I discovered Sergei when I was 14 years-old, aka a unelegant teenager with an awful haircut, terrible glasses and a bad skin. I've learned that he was Russian and then I got curious about Russia. When you're 14 and not good looking, you have a lot of free time, so I could read a lot about Russia. I read my first biography of Peter the Great when I was 15, and I was seduce by this uncommun, violent and intelligent man that he was. I'm now 23 and I'm still passionate about Russian history, especially about Peter the Great. I'll soon start my master thesis about Petrine Russia. I'm also learning Russian to be able to study Russian original writings, and I've already spent two months in Russia just to get to know better the country. Who could have believe that seeing a little picture of an handsome blue-eyed Russian hockey player in some newspaper could lead to such a great passion ? It sometimes only need a little spark to start a huge fire !

For a long time, Sergei was in my life one of the most important generators of happiness and this, without same rising the little finger. What is the best with a man that you don't really know is that he never disappoints you, unlike the average of regular men. So watching him play on TV was enough to fill my heart with joy, and hoping to someday watch him play for real was enough to fill my head with dreams for a hours ! The problem was that he wasn't playing in Montreal very often... The reality is that he haven't been playing in Montreal for the last five years ! Last year, I got tired of waiting, and I was afraid that he would retire before I had the chance to watch him on the ice. So I've decided to take the bus and to see him play against the New York Rangers at the Madison Square Garden. 16 hours of bus to get there, lots of money invested, but how could I have the slicest regret, since this was a dream coming true ? I truly believe that you must do anything to realize your dreams, and I'm proud to say that I've already realized three great dreams of mine (aka travelling in Russia, visiting Versailles castle and watching a Sergei Fedorov's game for REAL!) During the warm-up before the game, I went near to the ice and I showed my Fedorov jersey ; he looked at me and smiled to me ; then I felt the most powerful feeling then I got in my entire life, because joy is the most powerful drug - and I could have fainted if I wasn't too much enjoying the moment to miss any second of it !
That's how Sergei Fedorov is one of the ray of sunshine of my life without even knowing it ! The moral of this story could be that you never know what you could mean to someone, at very various levels. If Sergei Fedorov wouldn't exist, I would probably fancy on someone else - like Albert Einstein, and then I would do physics and learn German... Well that's why I can thank
Sergei for existing, because doing physics would be shitty like hell. Oh, and thanks for the smile too - those fantastic feelings, you never forget them as long as you live !
